Draft Resolution: GIRLs (Group of Increasing and Reaching Love) BLOC Committee: Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Commission on the Status of Women Topic: The feminization of poverty Sponsors: Germany, Turkey, Kiribati, Uganda The Commission on The Status of Women, Recognizing the Beijing Platform For Action as a fundamental beacon for women's equality; Addressing the Sustainable Development Goals 5: General Equality; Understanding the social status of the women nowadays; Affirming the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; Knowing the power of education to change the world and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization; Being Aware of the mandatory character of all UN resolutions; Bearing in mind the urgency in discussion of the topic to make a difference in the world for women; Guided by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA); The Commission on The Status of Women, 1) Encourages the implementation of "WATSON" (Work at Son and Daughters Network), which is an online work platform that helps to mitigate the pay gap disparity between women and men during maternity; a) This initiative would partner with UN Women, the International Labour Organization, and the United Nations Development Fund to accomplish this goal through developing and emerging developing countries; b) It will count on the collaboration with COPUS (Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space), SpaceX as well as its "StarLink" project, which can significantly promote free internet connectivity in developing locations; i) Within the next 5 years, their partnership could be sponsored by distributing at least 10% of the annual total revenue to SpaceX, the percentage can include free advertising and promoting the image of the company, c) All member states could contribute financially to this initiative as well as, but not limited to: i) China ii) Germany iii) Russia iv) India v) United States vi) Canada vii) France d) This project will work by enabling women to work during maternity times, even outside the workplace; i) WATSON is directed and recommended for workplace environments within the possibility to work in home office conditions; ii) Using online communications apps such as Zoom, Google Meet, Google Classroom, and other platforms related to work and productivity; e) It can be evaluated within the United Nations; f) The WATSON platform can work in collaboration with the "Kiribati Safe Net" framework in the gender-based violence status-quo, in this landscape promoting the advancement in denouncing violations of poor workplace environments; 2) Calls Upon the creation of the Friendship Bracelet program, an initiative that aims to promote female economic empowerment by investing in local economies and micro-financing businesses owned and run by women. Moreover, this project would also serve to create new job opportunities - and urgency especially when considering countries whose labor market can no longer absorb workforce; a) To ensure that the program aligns with each country’s specific economic, cultural, and social context, all signatory nations must collaborate closely with the regional development, design, and implementation of the Friendship Bracelet program: i) The guidelines for this project must be firstly approved by the Commission of The Status of Women and run by the International Labor Organization (ILO); ii) All funding concerning the implantation of the program will be provided by the said determined sources: (1) Micro-financing Institutions (MFIs); (2) World Bank; (3) Non-Governmental Organizations; (4) International Monetary Funds; (5) Donations from high-income signatory countries; iii) The Friendship Bracelet program will enrolled by universal and inclusive eligibility criteria - to be determined by the Commission of The Status of Women in future meetings; (1) Women from diverse backgrounds must have equal opportunities to access entrepreneurial initiatives; (2) Standard interview protocols must also be determined, focusing on skills and qualifications; iv) The Friendship Bracelet project will also provide the participants with comprehensive capacity-building and training programs in order to equip women entrepreneurs with the necessary skills, knowledge as well as resources to succeed in their business; (1) The training program’s curriculum must be designed and approved by the International Labor Organization (ILO); (2) The subject concerning the curriculum must be culturally sensitive and adaptable to each region’s specificities and local demands; 3) Recommends the Family Improvement Program (FIP) that will give habitation and the opportunity to work and study to poor and rural families lead by women; a) Knowing the recommendatory character of this committee, this program will be financed by the government of the country that decided to adopt the FIP; b) The government will decide what is the best option to construct the habitation for these families; c) Free preparatory courses will be offered for basic work functions according to the country's needs and resources such as free courses for female entrepreneurship that aim not just the help these women and their families but also boost the economy of the country; d) Poor or non-development countries that do not afore the resources to make this program happen, can make partnerships with the same program into developed countries that can help such as the nations in the Union European until the non-development countries can work on their own; 4) Encourages the implementation of the “Never Grow Up” project, an initiative based on a multifaceted approach to the alarming matter of child marriage, responding to the consequences and poverty generated for the victims of said human rights violation - more significantly girls. This is based on the revisitation and wide expansion of Turkey’s “National Strategy Document and Action Plan for CEFM”, designed to promote social norms and behavioral change at the community level; a) This initiative would be led by CSW in direct partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), with the intervention of other UN agencies, such as: i) International Organization for Migration ii) United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees iii) United Nations Fund for Population Activities iv) UN Women b) UNICEF and CSW would partner with each country’s central-level government institutions and implement the “child marriage prevention and response model” - targeting especially refugee camps and global communities; 5) Recommends the implementation of the Q.U.E.E.N. (Quotas for Unity and Equal Electoral Nomination) program, which views to establish gender quotas for political participation of women in the state members, addressing women’s need for suitable representation in the governance as well as decision-making of the countries in addition to promoting equal public politics; a) Furthermore, the quota determines a minimum percentage of women elected (the standard number being 15%) i) The progress of said gender targets will be evaluated by the CSW, with the countries submitting quarterly reports to the committee; ii) The Q.U.E.E.N. targets can be adapted according to each location's populational and local demands; b) Besides, the application of minimum percentages of resources in female electoral campaigns, proportional to the number of female candidates; c) Moreover, QUEEN will be managed by the UN Women and every state member must do updates annually on their actions on the matter; i) This information will be gathered from a website open to the public view; (1) The website, (QUEEN.UN.ORG), must gather information on the electoral campaign investments, as well as profiles for the women in the election to every country and their history and actions; (2) Furthermore, the website must have a mitigation of stereotypes, full of information on gender equality. ii) Also, shared an Instagram account for the project, to achieve a larger public. 6) Recognizesthe need for the creation of the Irene Mwenda program to insert better women into the political field as a free violence and prejudice environment, supported by the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW); a) Firstly with female leadership in politics, women become more engaged in civic discussions such as female poverty, and increase their economic power; b) Governments will select female representatives from the political scene, to mentor future political leaders; i) The program will be open to girls who want to apply; ii) The mentored girls will be 25% people of color, 25% white girls, 25% of indigenous girls, and 25% of migrant girls; iii) Mentoring will be carried out with preparatory classes focusing on electoral campaigns, advocacy, and legislation, classes will be offered in a hybrid model; iv) Dynamics will be carried out to develop essential skills for politics, such as communication, negotiation, leadership and conflict resolution; c) Mentoring high-skilled politician women is a way to build more influential and powerful feminine politicians, addressing issues such as: i) How to manage the prejudice and disregard of women in politics; ii) How to win power in the political field; d) Turning this program into a way to identify possible future high-skilled politician candidates; e) International Research and Training Institute for Advancement of Women will be involved meant to overview the development of mentoring and collect data about the training of these girls and the sequent results. 7) Calls upon, alarmed by the general inequality and throwers work and study opportunities for women that open space for the feminization of poverty, the EPFWW (Exchange Program for Women in the World) in partnership with the Commission on the Status of Women and UNESCO aims to integrate the women university students around the world in scientific studies about the topic of feminization of poverty, searching political and socioeconomic ways to stop this poverty and also expand the knowledge about this topic to the world; a) The exchange will be financed by the universities that are most aware of the problem such as Universidade Federal de Santa Maria in Brazil, the University of Turku in Finland, the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom, Universidad Europea in Spain, and the University of Bologna in Italy. Also, other universities that want to make part of the EPFWW program are very welcome; i) These universities are selected because of your programs about politics for themes about the central topic (feminization of poverty); b) The EPFWW in partnership with UNESCO will also expand the results of the studies with the public education systems so the schools can integrate and encourage the students to learn more about the theme with activities that integrate the students with the theme such as promoting model UN using the data shared or public awareness campaigns; 8) Transmits the creation of a free Model UN (MUN) Conference, called Girls Assembly By Institutes (GABI), to be done semiannually (each semester), only for women above the age of 12 years old with topics regarding Gender Inequality, Feminine Child Poverty, among others; a) The MUN will be promoted and supported by Instituto Diplomun, the biggest Model UN institute in Latin America, in partnership with the Look 4 MUN Institute, an organization that incentivizes the democratization of Model UN in under-developed and developing countries; b) The GABI MUN will be held both online and in-person, in which the Instituto Diplomun will provide the technological resources for its online editions or partner with local schools to promote them in their in-person environments, qualifying and teaching professionals on how to be Chairs; c) The online conference will have a total of 6 committees and topic guides, each one with at least 3 feminine chairs, counting on the famous figures: Gabriela Rocha, Maria Clara Rocha (AKA, MCR), Lara Seixas, Beatriz Santana, Manuela Zanchetta, Giovanna Lacerda, Liz Lopes, Iasmim Barreto, Hanna Andraus, Isadora Pedriali, Giulia Colla, Raissa Dutra, Amanda Garbelloto e Liliana Torquato; d) For the online editions, enrollment will also be done via the internet, at https://www.diplomun.com/ or by contacting gabiirocham@gmail.com– free from any fees; e) For in-personal editions, enrollment will be done in each school, where teachers will announce them in classrooms and interested girls can talk to them; 9) Suggests that schools incentivize their students to create academic clubs for gender equality, raising awareness of the challenges that women face nowadays and creating initiatives/projects in their communities to solve them. a) The clubs will be sponsored by the Girl Up organization, a United Nations initiative for young girls; b) There will be an online contest for the best project and scientific research to c) solve gender inequality problems in the students' communities, stimulating the girls that will participate to find the root of a structural problem, promoting awareness, in this contest the award will be: i) An internship at the Youtube company, for the Woman Studies area. Federico Goldenberg, the YouTube director, will also incentive the company to provide full financial aid for the winner's project; ii) Participation in a report produced by “WomenWave: Policy Perspectives” a project that will be described on the 10th; 10) Recommends the creation of “WomenWave: Policy Perspectives”, an awareness program seeking the citizens' conscientization about women's activities in their community, turning the wave of women’s actions even growth; a) This project has the objective to promote the visibility of women’s work, in their community, generation identification of other girls, and fostering them to think that they can join in this wave; b) The “Women Wave” will consist of the production of a series of reports, videos, and internet posts that will be recorded or written in partnership with local government, the Commission of The Status of Women team, and the International Telecommunication Union; c) To participate in these reports, the women will participate in a selection that the criteria will be: i) How these women’s activities change their community; ii) The innovation promoted by their work/project; iii) How it develops opportunities life in their environment of life; d) The budget for the confession of these journalist materials will come from: i) contributions of the BPA ii) These organizations above; iii) Local governments, even though their contribution will be proportional to their GDP; https://www.diplomun.com/ mailto:gabiirocham@gmail.com 11) Supports the creation of a TV show in a Korean Drama Format to expand awareness of the problems faced by women, starting its recordings in May 2024; a) The drama will be divided into 3 seasons with 12 episodes each, exploring the difficulties and strengths of women around the world, from South Korea and Southeast Asia; b) Recommends the show transmission in open TV in the countries that participated in the Beijing Platform for action, as a way to spread awareness to the general public on these matters; c) The budget for the show will come from contributions of the BPA (Beijing Platform for Action; 12) Decides to remain actively seized on the matter
