Note that if you have not subscribed to some of the series that you try to export, you will receive an error message. If a workfile is not currently open, you can create a new one. If the frequency of the series does not match the frequency of the destination workfile, EViews will perform the frequency conversion for you. Create EViews Workfile Note on CEIC series codes: In CDM data series are associated with a unique numeric code (e.g. 130004908), and sometimes also an alphabetic code (e.g. CABBA). When you import CEIC series to EViews the interface exposes a third code type starting in SR (e.g. sr3310915). You can see these codes in the Export Button image above. You will need to use these “sr” codes in EViews fetch commands. B. Via The Command Window or a Program To select series via the command window or a program you need to know their “sr” codes. ⇒ Type fetch “sr” code, e.g. fetch sr3310915 Page 5 of 6 In general the EViews command window, programs and other functionality can be used to avoid repetitive retrieval of CEIC series via Tree and Search. For example, create Q 2000 2012, dbopen CEIC and fetch sr3549979 will create a quarterly workfile, open the CEIC Database (if “CEIC” is your database alias) and fetch GDP Canada. 4. Support The EViews-CEIC Interface is software developed by CEIC Data. Your CEIC customer service representative is your support contact. Note that your CEIC support representative is not expert on the EViews 7 software itself. Note - Using The EViews Database Registry You can save time opening the CEIC databases by saving your CDM user name and password in the EViews Database Registry. ⇒ In EViews select Options > Database Registry ⇒ Click Add new entry, and then CEIC Database from the Database / File Type drop-down. Page 6 of 6 ⇒ Create a database alias, and fill in your CDM user-name and password. Click OK. ⇒ Click OK in the Database Registry window.
