1- According to what was discussed about UNITY in our classes, it is correct to say that the main purpose
of UNITY is.....

to structure the sentences and ideas

to contradict the sentences and ideas

to support the sentence and ideas

to analyze the sentences and ideas
Explicação:
Unity means that each paragraph has only one main idea (expressed in the topic sentences) and that all
other sentences and details in that paragraph revolve around that main idea. If a sentence or detail does
not adhere closely to the central idea expressed in the topic sentence, it does not belong in that
paragraph. If a new main idea comes up, a new paragraph is needed.

2- In each of the following alternatives, there are two sets of underlined word(s) which can only be
interpreted with reference to information given in or retrieved from (ellipted) the sentence. Choose the
alternative which contains the incorrect information about the relationship between the underlined
set of words and the kind of cohesion in parentheses.

Susan doesn't eat meat, but I do. (Conjunction)

Freddie wanted to book a later flight, but the travel agent said it was impossible. (Ellipsis)

With its tail wagging with joy, the young puppy jumped in to Peter's arms. (Cataforic Reference)

One of the most admired qualities in a person is honesty, but being truthful in all situations can
lead to unexpected problems. (Lexical Cohesion)

Most people do not like taxes. This is the reason why governments should avoid raising them.
(Anaphoric Reference)

Explicação:
Susan doesn't eat meat, but I do. (Substitution = but I eat meat is substituted by the auxiliary do)
