Língua inglesa MARIA CELINA QUANTIFIERS Quando um substantivo é contável (countable noun), é possível indicar quantidades através do uso de um numeral. Exemplo: There are three TVs in my house. (Há três televisões na minha casa.) Os uncountable nouns (substantivos incontáveis) não podem ser contabilizados através de números e, regra geral, são apenas usados no singular. Exemplo: electricity (eletricidade) Os quantificadores são palavras utilizadas em inglês para representar quantidades indefinidas. Quando não queremos ser específicos. EXEMPLO: There are a lot of candies in the bowl. (Há vários doces na tigela.) Os quantifiers são: A LOT OF / LOTS OF A FEW / FEW A LITTLE / LITTLE Questions: HOW MUCH HOW MANY A LOT OF = MUITO LOTS OF = MUITOS Usado para representar grande quantidade para substantivos incontáveis e contáveis no singular e no plural. EXEMPLO: There is a lot of juice in the jar. (Há muito suco na jarra.) Usado para representar pouca quantidade para substantivos contáveis. EXEMPLO: There are a few bananas in the picture. (Há algumas bananas na imagem.) A FEW = ALGUNS FEW = POUCOS Usado para representar pouca quantidade para substantivos incontáveis. EXEMPLO: There is a little water in the glass. (Há um pouco de água no copo.) A LITTLE = UM POUCO LITTLE = POUCO Para perguntar a quantidade de substantivos incontáveis. EXEMPLO: How much water is there?. (Quanto café há?) HOW MUCH = QUANTO Para perguntar a quantidade de substantivos contáveis. EXEMPLO: How many bananas are there?. (Quantas bananas há ?) HOW MANY = QUANTO O many e o much não são usados somente em perguntas. Pode ser utilizados também em negativas. O many quando for contável e o much quando for incontável. There are not many students.
