Click on his name on the list above to go to his Wikipedia page in English. You can purchase the book in Korean here. http://twitter.com/RM_ARCHIVE http://www.hanaartgallery.com/board/bbs/board.php?bo_table=canvas&wr_id=575 https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%ED%99%A9%EA%B2%BD%EC%8B%A0 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryu_Shiva https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chung_Ho-sung https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryu_Shiva https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yun_Dong-ju https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%ED%99%A9%EA%B2%BD%EC%8B%A0 https://www.amazon.com/Sky-Wind-Stars-Poem-%ED%95%98%EB%8A%98%EA%B3%BC/dp/8998046687/ref=pd_sbs_14_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=8998046687&pd_rd_r=CTA7GXP66X8SYE50R6GE&pd_rd_w=sgrRO&pd_rd_wg=5TcAo&psc=1&refRID=CTA7GXP66X8SYE50R6GE [2] “당신을 응원하는 누군가” translates to “Someone who supports you” or “Someone to cheer you up” and I kept the title in Korean for the reason listed above. Upon closer inspection, I also found out that Sun Mihwa is a visual artist and illustrator, and a really talented one, so I highly recommend looking up her name in Korean (선미화) on Google/Naver. The book is available for purchase in Korean here and here. [3] The issue wasn’t so much because of the title of the books, but because of the author’s name. I’ve seen her name being romanized as “Hyeong Kyung Hwang”, which confused me and made me wonder if 한 입 코끼리 (LT: Bamboo Elephant) and 밤 열한 시 (LT: Eleven o’clock at Night) were written by completely different people. Which I found out with a bit more research, weren’t. You can purchase Eleven o’clock at Night in Korean here and Bamboo Elephant here and here. [4] Similar case to Hwang Kyungshin and Yun Dongju, everywhere but his English Wikipedia page listed his name as “Ryu Shiwa” instead of “Ryu Shiva”. However, there was a bigger problem: the title of his 1998 book in English translates to something like “If I knew then what I know now” which made people on /r/bangtan mistakenly think Namjoon recommended a book by Kimberly Kirberger with the same name. Ryu’s 2008 novel “사랑하라 한번도 상처받지 않은 것처럼” translates to “Love Like You’ve Never Been Hurt”, available for purchase here and “If I Knew then what I Know now” here. [5] Yet another case of difference in romanization. The author himself has stated that he prefers “Jeong Hoseung” as opposed to the “Chung Hosung” that I’ve seen circulating online, so that’ll be the one exception to the rule of going by the Wikipedia romanization. Click on his name on the list above to go to his Wikipedia page in English. You can purchase 우리가 어느 별에서 (LT: On which Star We are) in Korean here. Other: There is evidence in photobooks from HYYH pt. 1 era and WINGS era that Namjoon reads the works of Rimbaud and Nietzsche, but there is no way for us to know which specific books he has or hasn’t read. There is also a 2015 tweet Namjoon has supposedly made recommending “Nimm's bitte nicht persönlich” (meaning “Please don’t take it personally” in German and the Korean title being “너는 나에게 상처를 줄 수 없다” translating to “You can’t hurt me”) by German author Bärbel Wardetzki. If I get a confirmation that it was indeed Namjoon who made that tweet, I’ll add the book to the list. If it’s to your interest, I have also compiled almost all of #RMusic recommendations into a Spotify playlist (+200 songs). You can listen to it right here.
