Everyone talks about the weather! There are four seasons:
When we talk about the seasons, we usually use IN. 
We can use the, too.
in winter in the winter
in spring in the spring
in summer in the summer
in autumn in the autumn
BUT only in the fall
Here are words for talking about the weather.
It’s sunny. It’s cloudy
The sun is shining. It’s a cloudy day.
It’s a sunny day.
It’s a nice day.
It’s a fine day.

It’s rainy. It’s snowy. 
It’s a rainy day. It’s a snowy day. 
It’s raining. It’s snowing.
It’s foggy. It’s windy. 
It’s a foggy day. It’s a windy day.
Let’s talk about these sentences.
It is rainy.
It is raining.
These are a little different.
It is rainy means that it rains, it stops, it rains, it stops.
It is raining means that it is raining now.
Rainy is an adjective.
These are the other adjectives for weather.
sunny 
cloudy 
snowy 
foggy 
windy
Remember, for this kind of sentence, the structure is this:
It is sunny.

Present ContinuousPresent Continuous
Look at this sentence: It is raining
This verb is called present continuous or present progressive. We will call it present continuous. It
is used for the present time, but it shows that action is continuing.
Remember that simple present was used for habits, facts, and routines. 
This is used for action now.
Here is an example of the difference. 
I smoke cigarettes. That is my habit.
I smoke cigarettes, but I am not smoking a cigarette now.
Here is the formula: be ________ ing.
Notice that there are two words in this verb. Only the first one changes. The second one stays the
same. 
Here we are going to talk only about “it”. This is what it looks like.
It is raining. 
It’s raining.
Here is what it looks like in the negative.
It is not raining. 
It isn’t raining.
Here is what it looks like as a yes/no question, with short answers.
Is it raining? Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t. 
Example: Which are the four seasons? 
The four seasons are spring, summer, fall and winter.
Which months are in the spring?

What do the plants and flowers do in spring?
