Well, Dr Huxtable, the storyhas a happy ending for Arthur. He is now back at home, the police have Reuben Hayes, and the Duke’s secretary is going to Australia. James Wilder wanted money from the Duke, you see, so he kidnapped Arthur, with the help of Reuben Hayes. But Wilder did not want to kill anyone, and when Hayes murdered poor Heidegger, Wilder was very unhappy and told the Duke everything. So there we are. I learnt something very interesting about horse-shoes, and the Duke gave me a large cheque.
What did Holmes not tell Dr Huxtable? Why not? And what did Holmes say that was not really true?
Holmes did not tell Dr Huxtable that James Wilder was the Duke’s son. This was because the Duke did not want anyone to know about his family mystery, and he asked Holmes and Watson not to talk about it.

1- Sherlock Holmes liked money and wanted more of it.
2- He worked hard to find the answer to the mystery, so it was right for him to take the money.
3- He wanted Dr Watson to have ha lf the money.
4- He didn't want the money, but he wanted to punish the Duke in some way.
5- He wanted to give the money to Heidegger's family in Ger many.
6- He wanted to take the cheque, and then give it back to
the Duke later when James Wilder was in Australia.
