1. Read the sentences below about Bethanie Patch. Then use your 
notebook to complete the rules about the Simple Present.
I study French in the arts component of my degree.
I don’t live near the university.
She participates in projects that help the community.

3. Choose the appropriate answer to complete the spelling rules of 
the Simple Present. Use your notebook.

Em respostas curtas a perguntas no Simple Present, usamos 
a forma do verbo auxiliar (do/does/don’t/doesn’t) depois 
do sujeito. Para responder às perguntas do item anterior, 
dizemos:

In the Simple Present, we add -s or -es to the infinitive (base 
form) of the verb when the subject is in
• the third person singular (he/she/it). X
• the third person plural (they).

classes changes.”
We add

When the infinitive (base form) of the verb ends in o we add

When the verb ends in consonant + -y we change -y into

But when the verb ends in vowel + -y we simply add
