Os dois tipos de ventilação utilizados em plantas industriais são a ventilação por impulso e a ventilação por exaustão. A ventilação por impulso tem como objetivo criar um ambiente confortável na planta industrial e substituir o ar extraído pelos sistemas de exaustão. Já a ventilação por exaustão tem como objetivo reduzir a concentração de contaminantes no ambiente de trabalho ou capturar o contaminante através de um fluxo de ar que é transportado para um capô ou cobertura que permite sua expulsão na atmosfera, previamente filtrado, sem contaminar o ambiente de trabalho.
