Grice (1982) defended that, to understand what is between the lines, it is necessary an effort from both participants of the communication, a mutual engagement (from the speaker, the necessary clues; from the listener, the necessary attention) so that what was not expressed can be understood. This is how the theorist arrived at the principle that supports his theories: the principle of cooperation. In this conception, two aspects are fundamental to be understood in human speech. They are:
