As utilizações da avaliação são diversas, entre elas: - Correção ao longo do curso de uma política ou programa; - Expansão ou corte: expansão se o programa está alcançando seus objetivos; corte se não há efeitos positivos, se as ferramentas escolhidas estavam erradas, se os objetivos não foram alcançados, se o programa já alcançou seus objetivos e realizará a ação ou falta de recursos; - Testar uma nova ideia: executar em menor escala como teste, por exemplo, em um pequeno município; - Escolher entre as melhores alternativas; - Decidir se deve continuar o financiamento.
