What are the four structures of proteins?

1- Primary structure: it is the linear sequence of amino acids along the polypeptide chain of the protein, having this form when they are being synthesized in the ribosomes.
2- Secondary structure: it is the way amino acids organize themselves in the primary sequence of the protein. It can be alpha helix or beta sheet.
3- Tertiary structure: it is the folding of the helices and pleated sheets of a secondary structure and is held in this position by hydrophobic and hydrophilic interactions.
4- Quaternary structure: it is the union of several protein molecules folded into a multi-protein complex.
