What are the symptoms and signs of trichomoniasis?
T. vaginalis presents high specificity of location, being able to produce infection only in the human urogenital tract, as it does not settle in the oral cavity or intestine.
In women, the clinical spectrum of trichomoniasis varies from asymptomatic form (80% of cases) to acute vaginitis.
In men, trichomoniasis is commonly asymptomatic or presents as urethritis with milky or purulent flow and a slight sensation of itching in the urethra.
The presence of local and systemic antibodies is frequently revealed in infected individuals, although the existence of acquired immunity against T. vaginalis has not yet been proven.

Os sintomas e sinais da tricomoníase variam entre homens e mulheres. Em mulheres, a maioria dos casos é assintomática, mas quando há sintomas, pode ocorrer corrimento vaginal amarelo-esverdeado, coceira, dor durante a relação sexual e ao urinar. Já em homens, a tricomoníase pode ser assintomática ou apresentar sintomas como corrimento uretral branco ou amarelo-esverdeado, dor ou ardência ao urinar e dor durante a relação sexual. É importante lembrar que apenas um médico pode fazer o diagnóstico correto e indicar o tratamento adequado.
