Hoje aprendemos sobre o sistema digestivo e como ele processa os alimentos que comemos, transformando-os em nutrientes que são absorvidos pelo nosso corpo. Aprendemos que a digestão começa na boca com a mastigação, que o bolo alimentar passa pela faringe, esôfago e estômago antes de chegar ao intestino delgado. Aprendemos que o suco gástrico no estômago transforma o alimento em partículas menores para absorção no intestino delgado e que o intestino delgado absorve nutrientes e o intestino grosso absorve água e minerais. Por fim, aprendemos que as fezes são o material não digerido de nossos alimentos.
