Different times know different societies. Literature reflects the changes that a society undergoes. This
phenomenon may appear through the contents, the language, its structure, its vocabulary, and even in
new genders. During the period of the English Renaissance, new prose or writing appears, which is
more oriented to reason, to scientific arguments. It is rational literature and not lyrics for the heart and
emotion. You may find the two periods of English literature followed by a few assumptions. Mark I
for Renaissance, and II for The Enlightenment:

I- Renaissance.
II- The Enlightenment.

( ) Traveling around the world, criticizing royalty, Liliput is about this and more.
( ) Literature should represent the truth and satisfy reason, according to Dryden.
( ) Hamlet, King Lear, Romeo-and-Juliet: so many comedies and tragedies he left us!
( ) A lonely man on an island: Is this a new beginning for civilization?
