más a las posiciones normales durante la evacuación, la aplicación 
de varios materiales de contraste en la vagina y el recto a fi n de 
valorar prolapso de la cúpula vaginal y rectocele y un sustituto 
adecuado para la defecografía (Bo, 2001; Fielding, 1998; Kelvin, 
2000; Lienemann, 2000; Schoenberger, 1998). Desde hace poco 
se usa la MRI con reconstrucción tridimensional para describir la 
morfometría del músculo elevador del ano en mujeres nulíparas 
en etapa avanzada del embarazo a fi n de evaluar su efecto sobre el 
piso pélvico (Boreham, 2005). En el futuro puede esperarse lograr 
una mejor valoración de la disfunción del piso pélvico con MRI 
con la implementación en forma habitual de la toma de imágenes 
dinámicas en posición vertical dentro de sistemas de resonancia 
magnética con confi guración abierta, con la mejor visualización 
de los detalles anatómicos mediante imanes que generen campos 
magnéticos más potentes y con el uso estándar de reconstrucciones 
tridimensionales del piso pélvico (Macura, 2006).
