LESSON TWO
Let's + verbs!
● To Play: Jogar/Brincar/ Tocar
⇨ Let’s Play Cards: Vamos jogar cartas

o "To” antes do verbo é para colocar verbo no
infinitivo. O infinitivo é a forma normal do verbo
Observe:
 => Correr - Correr (Infinitivo)
=> Run – To Run (Infinitive)

Possessive Adjectives
Os adjetivos possessivos modificam substantivos, portanto aparecem sempre
acompanhados de substantivos. São chamados de adjetivos possessivos, pelo
fato de assumirem forma de adjetivos. Cada pronome pessoal tem o seu adjetivo
possessivo correlato. Observe a seguir.

26
INTER ENGLISH BOOK 1
GENITIVE CASE: ‘S
EX.:
This is Mary's books (Este é o livro da Mary)
That is Susan's car (Aquele é o carro da Susan)
Those are Ted's boots (Aquelas são as botas do Ted)

EX.:
Chris' apartment is very huge (O apartamento de Chris é imenso).
Charles' father is so strict (O pai de Charles é tão severo).
The girls' backpacks are pink (As mochilas das garotas são rosa).

o apóstrofo +s ('s) apenas no último possuidor.
Ex.:
Mary and Tom's daughter, Susan, is really smart. (A filha da Mary e do Tom,
Susan, é muito esperta).

27
INTER ENGLISH BOOK 1
Bob and Jack’s bedroom is a mess. (O quarto do Bob e do Jack está uma
bagunça) Obs.: Nesse caso Bob e Jack dividem o mesmo quarto.

Jack and Jill's vídeo game is on the floor (O jogo de videogame de Jack e Jill

Exemplos:
The government's laws
(As leis do governo)
The Company's engineers

Exemplos:
The city's new square
(A nova praça da cidade)
France's system of government
(O sistema de governo da França)
The world's poverty

28
INTER ENGLISH BOOK 1
(A pobreza do mundo)
England's largest city
(A maior cidade da Inglaterra)

Quando o possuidor é um
substantivo relativo ao tempo.

Exemplos:
yesterday's party was cancelled.
(A festa de ontem foi cancelada)
Did you read last Sunday's article?

Exemplos:
They will have a week's course
(Eles terão um curso de uma semana)
She had a sixty minutes' talk with the president

Regular Verbs - Past Tense

A ação
teve início e fim no passado.

To work (regular verbs;past tense)

I worked yesterday
You worked on the last Monday

84
INTER ENGLISH BOOK 1
He/She worked yesterday
We worked yesterday
They worked yesterday

Veja alguns exemplos:

Hope-Hoped Change – Changed Like-Liked

study-studied carry- carried worry-worried

Irregular verbs
final do verbo).

LESSON FIFTEEN
CONVERSATION

Immediate Future
Regra Geral:
Am/Are/Is + going to+verbo
Going to é usado para:
1. Expressar intenção de fazer alguma coisa:
I'm going to eat less to try to lose weight.
(Vou comer menos para tentar emagrecer.)
I'm going to go for a walk.

100

2 .Falar de planos para o futuro:
He is going to be an engineer when he grows up.
(Ele vai ser engenheiro quando crescer.)
It's very hot today, we are going to sweat a lot.
She is going to talk to you in a few minutes.

AFFIRMATIVE FORM: SUJEITO + VERBO TO BE + GOING TO + INFINITIVO
DO VERBO PRINCIPAL SEM 'TO'.
I'm going to call you tonight. (Vou te ligar hoje à noite.)
NEGATIVE FORM: SUJEITO + VERBO TO BE + NOT + GOING TO +
INFINITIVO DO VERBO PRINCIPAL SEM 'TO'.
They are not going to come. (Eles não vão vir.)
INTERROGATIVE FORM: VERBO TO BE + SUJEITO + GOING TO +
