<p>apresenta:</p><p>Módulo 05: The Syllable</p><p>Aula 6:</p><p>VOWEL LENGTH</p><p>01 Módulo 05: The Syllable</p><p>Aula 6: VOWEL LENGTH</p><p>Bom, já que estamos conhecendo mais detalhes da língua inglesa e o que</p><p>pode interferir na compreensão quando estamos falando, decidimos tratar</p><p>de um assunto que pode ser novo pra você: o comprimento de vogais. Para</p><p>isso vamos retornar àquela aula sobre vogais longas e curtas e àquela outra</p><p>sobre consoantes plosivas /p,t,k,b,d,g/.</p><p>The same vowels can have different length according to the plosives at</p><p>the end. This is a subtle sound and we need to pay a lot of attention if you</p><p>want to hear the difference. However, you do not need to master it to be</p><p>understood. So, relax! We see Americans using it quite a lot and naturally</p><p>because we already know that the Stop Consonants are not released at the</p><p>end of words.</p><p>So, learning about the vowel length will be very important if you are willing</p><p>to have an American accent. Even though the [ɪ] is a short vowel, we can hear</p><p>the difference in HIT and HID. Also, we know that [i] is a long vowel, but we</p><p>can also hear the difference between NEAT and NEED. Para entender melhor,</p><p>podemos pensar numa lógica bem prática! Quando pronunciamos a vogal, há</p><p>uma vibração das nossas pregas vocais, bem como quando pronunciamos</p><p>sons vozeados, como as plosivas /b,d,g/. Já para as plosivas desvozeadas, como</p><p>/p, t, k/, não há essa vibração.
