BE GOING TO – EXERCISE SHEET Be going to is used: - to introduce verbs in the future tense - to talk about our plans andmost certain activities The structure is very simple: Subject + verb to be - present [am, is, are] + going to +main verb Examples: I am going to work on Saturdays. You are going to work on Saturdays. He is going to work on Saturdays. 1. Complete the sentences with the correct form of the verb in parenthesis using “be going to” (done in class). A) She (buy) a new car soon. B)We (travel) to the beach next vacation. C) I (learn) how to swim this summer. D)Silvia and Carlos (study) together next year. E) You (be) my neighbor. A)She is going to buy a new car soon. B)We are going to travel to the beach next vacation. C) I am going to learn how to swim this summer. D)They are going to study together next year. E) You are going to bemy neighbor. 2. Rewrite the sentences in exercise 1 in the negative form. The particle “not” comes in front of the verb to be. Follow the example: A) She is going to buy a new car soon. -> She is not going to buy a new car soon. 3. Rewrite the sentences in exercise 1 in the interrogative form. The verb to be comes in front of the subject. Follow the example: A) She is going to buy a new car soon. -> Is she going to buy a new car soon? 4. Answer the questions according to yourself. Don’t forget to use the be going to structure in your answers! 1. What are you going to do tomorrow? 2. What are you going to eat for dinner tonight? 3. Where are you going to travel on your next trip? 4. Are you going to do the groceries* this week? 5. Are you going to do next weekend? Do the groceries: Go to the supermarket and buy food and other items for your home.
