This increases causes a marked increase in CSu (Table 26-3) and thus an increase in H. (b) Reducing the rate of sample injection will lead to band broadening because all the molecules do not start to traverse the column at the same instant. Reduced efficiency and an increase in H results. (c) Increasing the injection port temperature will tend to decrease H because the same evaporation rate will increase. Thus, the sample will be put on the column in a narrow band with less initial zone spreading.
