 1a Questão
According to Beale (2007), "this technique is applied by readers when they look over a text quickly to get a general idea of the
subject-matter (also called 'gist'). The reader is not interested in all the detail, getting the gist is enough".
The citation above can be related to the following Reading Strategy:
scanning
intensive reading
extensive reading
prediction
 skimming
Respondido em 30/03/2020 11:59:55

Explicação:
Readers skim a text when they look it over quickly to get a general idea of the subject-
matter (also called ¿gist¿). The reader is not interested in all the detail, getting the gist is
enough. Skimmers run their eye down the page or screen looking for pointers that sum
up the contents. Subheadings or bullet points attract their attention, as do the
introductory phrases of paragraphs and the concluding ones. In longer texts, skimmers
check the contents lists, the opening and closing paragraphs of chapters, and any
introductions, conclusions or summaries.

 2a Questão

1) read shorter texts in order to extract specific information;
2) include very close accurate reading for detail;
3) grasp the details of a specific situation;
4) understand each word, number or fact.
The previous purposes refer to ONE of the following Reading Strategies. Which one?
prediction
scanning

 intensive reading
Respondido em 30/03/2020 12:02:32

Explicação:
Prediction - used to anticipate what the readers are about to read
Skimming - used to understand the "gist" or main idea
Scanning - used to find a particular piece of information
Extensive reading - used for pleasure and general understanding
Intensive reading - accurate reading for detailed understanding

Intensive reading is used on shorter texts in order to extract specific information. It
includes very close accurate reading for detail. Use intensive reading skills to grasp the
details of a specific situation. In this case, it is important that you understand each word,
number or fact.
Examples:
A bookkeeping report
An insurance claim
A contract

 7a Questão
A Reading Strategy in which readers use information from a text (including titles, headings, pictures, and diagrams) and their
own personal experiences to anticipate what they are about to read (or what comes next).
The information above refers to which of the following strategies?
Extensive reading
Intensive reading
Skimming
 Prediction
Scanning
Respondido em 30/03/2020 12:00:56

Explicação:
Making predictions is a strategy in which readers use information from a text (including titles, headings, pictures, and diagrams)
and their own personal experiences to anticipate what they are about to read (or what comes next). A reader involved in making
predictions is focused on the text at hand, constantly thinking ahead and also refining, revising, and verifying his or her predictions.
This strategy also helps students make connections between their prior knowledge and the text.

As you read, stop every once in a while and think about what the author has written.
Check the text and images for clues about what might be important. If you're reading a
story, try predicting what you think will happen next. If you're reading a poem, speech,
or essay, try predicting the themes and main ideas the author will emphasize.
