Verbo to be NO TEMPO PASSADO. (was e were)
O verbo “to be” significa SER OU ESTAR
Então, o verbo “to be” no passado (was ou were) significa ERA OU ESTAVA
I was = Eu era/Eu estava...
You were = Você era/Você estava...
He was
She was
It was
We were
You were
They were
Agora, vamos entender como utilizamos a expressão THERE WAS ou THERE WERE
Lembre-se que estudamos o THERE IS ou THERE ARE, que significa tem ou há.
Ex:
· There is a book on the table. (TEM ou HÁ um livro sobre a mesa)
Então, o THERE WAS ou THERE WERE significa tinha ou havia
Ex: 
· There was a book on the table. (TINHA ou HAVIA um livro sobre a mesa.)
· There were two books on the table. (Tinha ou havia dois livros sobre a mesa.)
Exercícios:
1- Complete com THERE WAS ou THERE WERE.
1.  a guy in my neighborhood who worked in television.
2. I didn't see any meat in the fridge this morning, but  some fish.
3. Sally went to the video store today, but she didn't know what to pick,  several good movies available.
4. - Where are the candies?
- There are no candies!
-  a few yesterday! Have you eaten them all?
5. - Can you help me find a copy of this book?
- I'm not sure we have it anymore,  one on that shelf last week... Hmm, it's been sold.
