- Past Simple; - Used to; - Prepositions of time; - Past time expressions. to love – loved to lie – lied to like – liked to stop – stopped to control – controlled to plan– planned to cry – cried to try – tried stay (ficar) – stayed play(brincar; jogar) – played Past Simple -> Ações passadas já concluídas > já aconteceram, mas não acontecem mais; -> Uso do auxiliar did nas formas negativa e interrogativa, e com o acréscimo de –ed, – ied ou –d ao final do verbo principal no infinitivo, sem o to, na forma afirmativa. Exemplo: I studied for the exam. < forma afirmativa I didn't study for the exam. < forma negativa Did you study for the exam? < forma interrogativa -> Regras: 1. Aos verbos regulares terminados em –e, acrescenta-se somente o –d no final do verbo: 2. Aos verbos regulares terminados em consoante+vogal+consoante (CVC), duplica-se a última consoante e acrescenta-se o –ed: 3. Aos verbos terminados em –y precedido de consoante, retira-se o y e acrescenta-se o –ied: 4. Aos verbos terminados em –y precedido de vogal, acrescenta-se somente o –ed: Past time expressions: As mais utilizadas são: AGO, YESTERDAY AND LAST. -> Ago: We use time reference + ago to show how far back in the past something happened Ex: The plane landed two hours ago. / Her husband died two years ago. -> Yesterday: We use yesterday or yesterday + morning / afternoon / evening to talk about the day before today > "ontem" Ex: Yesterday I took the vaccine. -> Last: We use last + time reference to mean the most recent or nearest to the present day time. Ex: Last Christmas I got a lot of presents. / My friend and I met at the beach last summer. Used to: utilizado para expressar hábitos que tínhamos no passado e não temos mais. -> "Quando expressamos hábitos no passado, devemos empregar a estrutura used to. Além disso, há duas possíveis maneiras de traduzi-la, podendo ser no pretérito imperfeito do indicativo ou ainda: costumava(m) + verbo principal no infinitivo. |1| O used to segue as mesmas regras do simple past, ou seja, em frases negativas e interrogativas é preciso colocar na frase o verbo auxiliar did + used to + main verb." -> Quando colocamos o auxiliar did + not, a expressão used to volta para a forma no presente, pois o did já indica que a frase está no passado. Exemplos: -> My sister used to have a very short hair. > forma afirmativa -> I didn't used to do homeworks. > forma negativa -> Did you use to work here? > forma interrogativa At: On: In: Prepositions of time: funções de tempo, lugar ou movimento -> Sometimes we don’t use a preposition of time, for example: after next/this/last/every.
