- When the next word starts with a consonante sound

AN: 
- Before singular nouns 
- When the next word starts with a vowel sound 
- Ex: I am an intelligent person 
 
THE 
- Before countable or uncontable nouns 
- Use “the” for singular and plural sentences 
- Ex: I love to eat the honey the bees produce 
 This is the best lobster I have ever had 
 
OBS: 
- A/AN: to talk about unknown things. Ex: There is a dog on the street 
- THE: to talk about known and specific thing. Ex: I saved the dog I found on the 
street
