A report from the Fapesp Magazine of August 2016 reported that strains of the Escherichia coli bacterium were identified, isolated from production animals in Brazil, containing the mcr-1 gene that causes resistance to a class of antibiotics used to treat infections caused by multi-resistant bacteria. Researchers at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (ICB-USP) responsible for identifying the bacterium also reported the first case of human infection in Brazil, in a high-complexity hospital in Natal (RN), by a strain of the bacterium carrying the mcr-1 gene and resistant to Colistin (polymyxin E), one of the most powerful antibiotics, considered as a last resort in the treatment of infections produced by bacteria that do not respond to other antibiotics. Choose the correct alternative about: I - the name of the structure containing the bacterium's genetic material that carries antibiotic resistance genes and II - the structure by which this genetic material can be transferred to other bacteria. I - Chromosome and II - Sexual Pili I - Plasmid and II - Sexual Pili I - Plasmid and II - Mesosomes I - Plasmid and II - Flagella I - Main chromosome and II - Fimbria
