A woman desperately pleaded on the other side of the phone: 'We fear that our 12-year-old son is unable to learn, that he has something in his brain. He cannot learn mathematics. Would you examine him to see if something can be done?' After Mark entered my office with great shame, his first words revealed his fear: 'So now you're going to find out how stupid I am!'
