According to the Rome IV classification, it is the occurrence of pain and/or discomfort in the central region of the abdomen, after excluding organic dyspepsia.
The condition must have started 6 months ago, being present in the last 3 months.
Dyspeptic symptoms: pain, postprandial fullness, early satiety, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension.
There are two types of functional dyspepsia: ulcerative and dysmotility or postprandial discomfort.

A dispepsia funcional é uma condição em que ocorre dor e/ou desconforto na região central do abdômen, após excluir a dispepsia orgânica. De acordo com a classificação de Roma IV, a condição deve ter começado há 6 meses, estando presente nos últimos 3 meses. Os sintomas dispepticos incluem dor, plenitude pós-prandial, saciedade precoce, náusea, vômito e distensão abdominal. Existem dois tipos de dispepsia funcional: ulcerosa e dismotilidade ou desconforto pós-prandial.
