Verbals refer to non-inflected structures, known as: infinitives, gerunds and participles. With this in mind, read the text below: Scandinavian influence was the oldest and, possibly, one of the strongest external forces that contributed to the formation of modern English. Consequently, knowledge of the Icelandic language is extremely important. Not only does Icelandic provide a linguistic basis for such study, it also provides the source of a great deal of information necessary for understanding British medieval history.
