TALKING TO CO-WORKERS
The ability to make small talk is an invaluable asset when dealing with others whether in a social setting, around the neighborhood, or in the workplace. This skill enables an individual to expand his or her circle of friends, network of business contacts, and list of social acquaintances. In the workplace, there are many occasions when small talk is appropriate: in the elevator, at the water cooler, waiting for a staff meeting to begin, in a lineup at the copier, or in the cafeteria. Dead silence is uncomfortable; remarks of some kind are called for.

This is an opportunity to make a positive impression. Be the first to speak, smile confidently, make eye contact and comments.Making small talk can be worthwhile and fun. People are interesting and everyone has a story. Na open and smilling approach
may bring you your new best friend, romantic interest or become a valuable business asset. At the very least, you'll establish a closer relationship with a co-worker, and after you've repeated the process several times, your circle of friends at work will increase. The whole atmosphere in the workplace will be positively affected. Staff morale will improve and projects requiring teamwork will be facilitated.
