John is a student who doen´t like to study. 
He prefers to have a good time.Naturally, 
when he takes examinations, he doesn´t 
get good grades. 
One day, afraid of his father´s reaction, he 
asked his brother to prepare his father for 
the bad News. The next morning, he 
received the following answer: “ Father is 
prepared. You´d better prepare yourself”.

ALTITUDE AND LATITUDE 
Altitude and latitude are important factors in 
climate, Altitude means height. A place 
located at a high altitude is colder than one 
at a low altitude. The temperature at the top 
of mountain, therefore, will be colder than at 
the foot of that mountain. 
Latitude refers to distance from equator. 
Latitude determines the position of the sun 
at noon, as well as the length of the day. At 
the equator, the sun is directly above and 
the climate is very hot. 
Today, weather instruments, weather 
satellites, and other devices 
send information from high above the earth. 
This information helps man to predict the 
weather and to understand the climate 
around him.

THE FOX AND THE CROW 
One day, a fox saw a crow sitting on a 
branch with a large piece of cheese in her 
beak. Hungry for cheese, the sly fox said: 
“ Good morning, Mistress Crow ! 
What a fine bird you are ! 
How black your feathers are ! 
And what a well – shaped beak you have ! 
You must have a wonderful singing voice ! “ 
The crow got so pleased with the fox´s 
praises that she opened her beak to sing. 
Then, a hoarse “ caw “ was heard. 
The cheese fell from her beak, the fox 
snapped it up and ran away. 
Moral: He who loves false praise may lose 
wisdom.
