PASSIVE VOICE 
Fórmula: verb “to be” (flexionado) + particípio passado (do verbo principal – indica ação) 
 
 am/is/are – presente 
 were/was – passado 
 be – futuro e modais 
 been – tempos perfeitos 
 being – tempos contínuos 
 
Exemplo com o verbo “to write” – escrever. 
Tempo verbal Voz ativa Voz passiva 
Presente simples write / writes am/is/are written 
Passado simples wrote was/were written 
Presente contínuo am/is/are writing am/is/are being written 
Passado contínuo was/were writing was/were being written 
Going to (futuro) am/is/are going to write am/is/are going to be written 
Will (futuro) will write will be written 
Would would write would be written 
Can can write can be written 
Could could write could be written 
Should should write should be written 
Ought to ought to write ought to be written 
Presente perfeito have/has written have/has been written 
Passado perfeito had written had been written 
Presente perfeito contínuo have/has been writing have/has been being written 
 
AGENTE DA PASSIVA 
 
 Quando o sujeito da frase na voz ativa é generalizado (somebody, anybody, nobody etc. ou people), não é necessário 
mencioná-lo na voz passiva. 
Somebody cooks the meal. People believed in ghosts. 
The meal is cooked by somebody. Ghosts were believed by people. 
 
 
 Quando há um objeto direto e um objeto indireto em uma frase na voz ativa, ao passá-la para a voz passiva o objeto 
indireto transforma-se em sujeito da frase. 
Nobody told me the truth. People would send her an email. 
 
 O.I. O.D. O.I. O.D. 
I wasn’t told the truth. She would be sent an email. 
Sujeito Sujeito 
 
Me corresponde a “I” e her corresponde a “she”. 
Me e her são pronomes objeto (object pronouns). I e she são pronomes pessoais (pernsonal pronouns).
