ENGLISH FOR INTERVIEWS GRADE: INTERMEDIATE PAGE 3 OF 25 - Seja conciso: ao invés de escrever longos parágrafos, prefira organizar por tópicos. Algumas nomeclaturas: Phd. – Doutorado Msc. – Mestrado B.A. – Graduado (bacharel) - Be concise: prefer bullet points than long paragraphs. Think if the information you are adding is really relevant to the position you are applying - NEVER lie in your CV, specially about your English level... it would be really easy to find out the truth and it can ruim you reputation. - Personal Information: if you are sending your CV to other countries (specially USA, it’s not necessary to put your age, marital status, document numbers or children. - Objective: headhunters and recruiters appreciate that the candidate bear in mind what he/she is looking for. Don’t put a lot of departments and avoid something too generic as Finance or Engineering. You could also put your “Areas of Expertise”. - Summary of Qualifications / Results: excellent opportunity to describe your activities and results, without being repetitive, describing them in all of your previous positions. - If possible quantify your results: “Reduced R$ 200k (25%) in communication costs through contracts renegotiation with suppliers” Check our appendix to get some important vocabulary for CVs/ CAPÍTULO II - Começando a entrevista em Inglês / Starting the interview in English TOPIC A Costumeiramente o entrevistador (se brasileiro) irá utilizar alguma frase em inglês para anunciar que a partir daquele momento, vocês passarão a se comunicar em inglês, estas frases geralmente são: - Now, let’s switch to English / Agora vamos mudar para o inglês. - Can we speak in English a little bit? / Podemos conversar um pouco em inglês? - Now, let’s continue the interview in English / Agora, vamos continuar a entrevista em inglês. - Now I’ll ask some questions in English / Agora, farei algumas perguntas em inglês - Can I ask some questions in English? / Posso fazer algumas perguntas em inglês? ENGLISH FOR INTERVIEWS GRADE: INTERMEDIATE PAGE 12 OF 25 CAPÍTULO VI – TOP 12 QUESTIONS AND SOME MORE / AS TOP 12 PERGUNTAS E OUTRAS MAIS Algumas perguntas são feitas com bastante frequência em entrevistas. 1. Tell me about yourself. 2. Tell me about your 3 greatest achievements. Por exemplo: One of my greatest achievements was to reduce the communication cost of the company by USD 200 K yearly. This was the result of a 3 month project that I lead together with two other colleagues, where we mapped all the communication costs, and identified saving opportunities, and re-negotiated the contract with the main supplier, which brought us not only the financial savings, but also gave us some extra perks such as some free mobile phones. 3. Are you happy with your career to date? 4. Tell me about the most difficult situation you have had to face and how did you tackle it. 5. What do you like about your present job?/ O que você gosta no seu atual emprego? 6. What do you dislike about your present job? 7. Why did you choose this company and not the competitor? 12. Why should we hire you? Or Why do you think you are the best candidate for this position?
