LESSON PLAN TEACHING POINT: Students learn vocabulary of meals and how to accept and refuse them. COMMUNICATIVE GOALS: Making, Accepting and refusing suggestions. Reconigizing and practicing new vocabulary related to meals. ENABLING GOALS: Vocabulary of breakfast, lunch and dinner. MATERIALS: Meal flachcards, pictures of food, Minnie and Mickey puppet and a coin. STAGE DESCRIPTION INSTRUCTIONS + ICQ’s CONCEPT CHECKING ANTICIPADED PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS ACTIVATE GW 5 MIN Check SS homework pg 33. SS should have found and circled 8 differences between the 2 pic. Ask SS to take turns talking about the differences between the 2 pic. Ex: a blue pencil in pic 1 and a Green pencil in pic 2. SS answer the activity correclty. SS don’t understand the task. Model the conversation as many times they need. ENGAGE GW 10 min Introduce new language related to meals. Use body language and tell SS your hungry. Show SS the meal flashcard of lunch. Ask Minnie : Lets have lunch? Minnie: Yes. Good Idea! Spread pic of food on the floor and pretend your trying them. Ask SS: let’s have lunch? IF SS say NO use body language to ask IF SS arent hungry. You: hey, Mickey! Come on, let’s have lunch. Mickey: Oh, sorry, Im not hungry. Use body language and cary out chorus repitition of both dialogues. Ask SS the questions about the meals and let them answer on there own. Ask SS to hold the flashcards and repeat the procedure one by one. Ofer students a reward at the end of the class for each correct answer. ENGAGE GW 10 min Offer student a opportinity to talk about breakfast, lunch and dinner and how to accept and decline them. Put the 3 meal flaschcards on the floor. Tell SS the differences by using body language. Remind SS about morning, afeternoon and evening.Draw on the board sunrise, sunset and a moon. Ask SS what is there favorite meal. Use the previous dialogues using the new vocabulary. Ex: Let’s have breakfast? Yes! Good Idea!/ Sorry, Im not hungry. SS should use the previous dialogues to ask there classmates and should try to answer accepting or declining. Students Don’t understand the task. Role play with a student until they know what to do. STUDY GW 5 min Offer SS a chance to use previos language. Give each SS a flashcard. They should hide the flashcard on them. One volunteer suggest they have breakfast, lunch ou dinner. If the card is correct SS should say Yes. If not SS should decline. Change volunteers and cary out the activity for as long as necessary. Ss Will be more confident by asknig the questions and responding them. SS do not understand the task. Role play with a student before SS start. STUDY GW 10 min Student’s play a game related to the vocabulary they Just learned. Ask one student to refer to Page 179. Tell SS to use a small object as a counter and provide them with a coin. If SS get heads they should move 1 position IF they get tails they should move 2. When a student on one of the pic He or she should make a suggestion and one of the SS should reply affirmatively or negatively. Students Will understand the task and respond correctly.. Student’s get confused or dont know how to answer. Help student’s how to answer in the first round of teh game. ACTIVATE IW. 5min Student’s will listen to a áudio realated to the vocabulary they Just learned. Ask SS to open books Page 34. Tell SS they will listen to a áudio and should number the pic in the order. Play the áudio and let SS work. When SS are finished compare the answers with the whole class. Student’s do the activity correctly. Students dont understand the task. Play the first parto f the áudio and show students what to do. ACTIVATE GW 5min Student’s should look at the pictures and role play conversations with there classmates using the previous vocabulary. Ask SS what meal are the characters having. Use body language to talk about the characters mood. Ex: is the beast happy? SS: He’s sad. Me: Is He hungry: SS: No, He isn’t. Tell SS to pretend they are the charactersin the pictures and role play a conversation for each pic. They should take turns accepting and refusing the. Student’s make the correct questions and answer with the correct vocabulary. Student’s do not understand the task. Role play with a student before they start.
