REVIEW • PRESENT CONTINUOUS FORMANDO O "PRESENT CONTINUOUS" O "present continuous" de qualquer verbo é composto por duas partes: o presente do verbo "to be" + o "present participle" do verbo principal. (A forma do "present participle" é esta: radical+ing, ex.: talking, playing, moving, smiling.) Afirmativa Sujeito + to be + radical + ing She is talking. Negativa Sujeito + to be + not + radical + ing She is not (isn't) talking. Interrogativa to be + sujeito + radical + ing Is she talking? O "PRESENT CONTINUOUS" É UTILIZADO: para descrever uma ação ocorrendo neste momento: You are using the Internet. You are studying English grammar. para descrever uma tendência ou ação que está acontecendo atualmente: Are you still working for the same company? More and more people are becoming vegetarian. para descrever uma ação ou evento futuros que estão planejados ou preparados: We're going on holiday tomorrow. I'm meeting my boyfriend tonight. Are they visiting you next winter? para descrever um evento ou situação temporários: He usually plays the drums, but he's playing bass guitar tonight. The weather forecast was good, but it's raining at the moment. com "always, forever, constantly" para descrever e reforçar uma sucessão de ações repetidas: Harry and Sally are always arguing! You're constantly complaining about your mother-in-law! Na Língua Inglesa, assim como no Português, pouco usamos o futuro do presente (consertará, levará, irá, trará, etc), que corresponde ao Simple Future. Na maioria das vezes damos preferência à construção vou consertar, vou levar, etc. Essa construção se faz com o Going to em Inglês. Observe suas formas e usos: Forma afirmativa A forma afirmativa desta estrutura verbal é formada por going to seguido do infinitivo do verbo principal sem 'TO'. O verbo to be serve como auxiliar e se posiciona após o sujeito: We are going to spend our vacation in Paris. (Vamos passar nossas férias em Paris.) My mother is going to take me to the school today. (Minha mãe vai me levar para escola hoje.) I'm going to call you tonight. (Vou te ligar hoje à noite.) I'm going to have a shower before having dinner. (Vou tomar banho antes de jantar.) AFFIRMATIVE FORM: SUJEITO + VERBO TO BE + GOING TO + INFINITIVO DO VERBO PRINCIPAL SEM 'TO'. Forma negativa Na forma negativa, coloca-se not entre o verbo to be e going to: I'm not going to talk to you until you apologize for what you have done. (Não vou falar com você até você se desculpar pelo que fez.) They are not going to come. (Eles não vão vir.) I'm not going to have any difficulty to do that. (Não vou ter nenhuma dificuldade para fazer isto.) NEGATIVE FORM: SUJEITO + VERBO TO BE + NOT + GOING TO + INFINITIVO DO VERBO PRINCIPAL SEM 'TO'. Forma interrogativa Na forma interrogativa de going to, o verbo to be se posiciona antes do sujeito.Observe alguns exemplos: Are they going to help us? (Eles vão nos ajudar?) What are you going to do next weekend? (O que você vai fazer no próximo final de semana?) Is she going to have a baby? (Ela vai ter um filho?) Is he going to stay here? (Ele vai ficar aqui?) https://www.todamateria.com.br/present-continuous/ https://www.ef.com.br/guia-de-ingles/gramatica-inglesa/present-continuous/ INTERROGATIVE FORM: VERBO TO BE + SUJEITO + GOING TO + INFINITIVO DO VERBO PRINCIPAL SEM 'TO'. He wants the academic job so bad. / He wants the academic job so badly. (Ele quer muitíssimo o cargo acadêmico.) easy ou easily: His success came too easy. / His success came too easily. (O sucesso dele veio fácil / facilmente.) Loud ou loudly: Do you really have to hear the music so loud? / Do you really have to hear the music so loudly? Bob's column is published daily. - daily = advérbio (A coluna de Bob é publicada diariamente.) They are used in sentences where two nouns are compared, in this pattern: Noun (subject) + verb + comparative adjective + than + noun (object). EXAMPLES ▪ My house is larger than hers. ▪ This box is smaller than the one I lost. ▪ Your dog runs faster than Jim's dog. ▪ The rock flew higher than the roof. ▪ Jim and Jack are both my friends, but I like Jack better. ("than Jim" is understood) SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object which is at the upper or lower limit of a quality (the tallest, the smallest, the fastest, the highest). They are used in sentences where a subject is compared to a group of objects. Noun (subject) + verb + the + superlative adjective + noun (object). EXAMPLES ▪ My house is the largest one in our neighborhood. ▪ This is the smallest box I've ever seen. ▪ Your dog ran the fastest of any dog in the race. ▪ We all threw our rocks at the same time. My rock flew the highest. ("of all the rocks" is understood) https://www.solinguainglesa.com.br/conteudo/adverbio2.php https://www.solinguainglesa.com.br/conteudo/adverbio3.php https://www.ef.com.br/guia-de-ingles/gramatica-inglesa/adverbios-comparativos-superlativos/ FORMING REGULAR COMPARATIVES AND SUPERLATIVES Forming comparatives and superlatives is easy. The form depends on the number of syllables in the original adjective. ONE SYLLABLE ADJECTIVES Add -er for the comparative and -est for the superlative. If the adjective has a consonant + single vowel + consonant spelling, the final consonant must be doubled before adding the ending. Adjective Comparative Superlative tall taller tallest fat fatter fattest big bigger biggest sad sadder saddest TWO SYLLABLES Adjectives with two syllables can form the comparative either by adding -er or by preceeding the adjective with more. These adjectives form the superlative either by adding -est or by preceeding the adjective with most. In many cases, both forms are used, although one usage will be more common than the other. If you are not sure whether a two-syllable adjective can take a comparative or superlative ending, play it safe and use moreand most instead. For adjectives ending in y, change the y to an i before adding the ending. Adjective Comparative Superlative happy happier happiest simple simpler simplest busy busier busiest tilted more tilted most tilted tangled more tangled most tangled THREE OR MORE SYLLABLES Adjectives with three or more syllables form the comparative by putting more in front of the adjective, and the superlative by putting most in front. Adjective Comparative Superlative important more important most important expensive more expensive most expensive IRREGULAR COMPARATIVES AND SUPERLATIVES These very common adjectives have completely irregular comparative and superlative forms. Adjective Comparative Superlative good better best bad worse worst little less least much more most far further / farther furthest / farthest EXAMPLES ▪ Today is the worst day I've had in a long time. ▪ You play tennis better than I do. ▪ This is the least expensive sweater in the store. ▪ This sweater is less expensive than that one. ▪ I ran pretty far yesterday, but I ran even farther today.
