Expert English 2.0 Topic: Prepositions of Movement Objectives: By the end of the lesson, you should be able use in correct way the prepositions of time to refer the correspondent time. By: Osvaldo Tivane Quives Expert English 2.0 Prepositions of Movement describe how things and people move toward the permanent objects. Prepositions of Movement: “Down, Up, Out of, Into, Toward, Away, Past, Over, Onto, Off, Around, Under, Along, Across, Through.” Down = used to indicate what is on the ground when we have top side. e.g: The Tennis ball is down the car. Up = used to indicate something above somewhere. e.g: The cat is up the house. Expert English 2.0 Out of = preposition used to describe a movement of abandoning a place. e.g: The car is getting out of the garage. Into = is a preposition of movement used to describe the entrance in certain place. e.g: The ball jumped into the box. Toward = preposition used to describe movement of going frontally to somewhere. e.g: A taxi driver was driving fast toward the tree. Expert English 2.0 Away = preposition used to describe a movement of abandoning an opened place. e.g: The dog is getting away of our face. Past = is used to describe movement of moving and not stop in certain place. e.g: She pasts near my house she goes to school. Over = used to describe movement o passing by top space. e.g: He kicked the ball over my head when we were playing football. Onto = we use to describe movement of jumping and get into somewhere. e.g: The Tennis ball jumped onto the box. Expert English 2.0 Around = used to describe circular movement in a certain place. e.g.: The cat is moving ball around the box. Along = describes a movement of walking in the straight way. e.g.: Turn left and go along Joaquim Chissano Avenue. Across = used to describe a movement of going to other side of road. e.g.: The children are running across the street. Through = used to describe a movement of moving inside a place. e.g.: When you get in Zimpeto just go through the bridge to get in Marracuene. Expert English 2.0 Exercises: 1.
