Presenting a diagnosis of the state of Brazilian biodiversity at the species level is gigantic, considering its remarkable richness and, at the same time, the magnitude of what is still unknown. The most comprehensive study to date, regarding the synthesis of current knowledge, was carried out within the scope of the National Biodiversity Strategy project, by the MMA. Based on information obtained from specialists in the best-known and cataloged taxonomic groups, it was estimated that the country would have, on average, about:
a) 5% of the world total of these groups. b) 10% of the world total of these groups. c) 13% of the world total of these groups. d) 20% of the world total of these groups.
