17) O portal GI noticiou em 19/09/2017 that four people of the same family from Santarém, in Pará, were diagnosed with Chagas disease. The symptoms of the disease began, according to the patients, after they had consumed 'patauá wine', a drink made from fruits of a palm tree similar to açaí. As its production is homemade, it is likely that the fruits were contaminated with triatomine feces or the insect itself was crushed during preparation. The initial symptomatology derived from this form of infection is:
