What are the different types of sentences in the Brazilian Civil Procedure Code?

I. The art. 203, § 1º, of the CPC allows distinguishing two species of sentences: those that extinguish the process without resolution of the merit (cases of art. 485) and those in which the judge resolves the merit, ending the process or the cognitive phase (art. 487).
II. The merit is the claim brought to court.
