Translating poetry may not represent the same difficulties and issues as translating a letter or 
even a novel of a contemporary author. It involves many levels of difficulties. Consider the following 
lines, taken from the poem, "Administério", by Paulo Leminski: 
"Quando o mistério chegar,
já vai me encontrar dormindo,
metade dando pro sábado,
outra metade, domingo."
If ever you were asked to translate these lines, what would be one of your major troubles?

When translating a certain text from the English language into Portuguese, the translator is faced with 
two choices: either keep oriented to the source language/culture, either focus the target text/culture. 
Literary texts may ask for a special attention when they are translated. You will find here an excerpt 
taken from a literary text, the book Alice in Wonderland and also a statement about translation. Read 
these two sentences and analyze the relationship between them:I- A good translation for the excerpt: "I forgot to ask, said the Cat. What happened to the baby? It
