• Usamos can/can’t 
para hablar sobre
habilidad. 
Ejemplos:
• I can swim. (yo puedo nadar)
• I can’t drive a car. (yo no 
puedo conducir un auto)
• He can play the guitar. (él 
puede tocar la guitarra)
• He can’t sing. (el no puede 
cantar)
Forma Afirmativa
1. Usamos can + forma base del verbo para formar la forma 
afirmativa.
• We can dance.
• I can play soccer.
• She can sing.
• They can jump.
Forma Negativa
2. Usamos can’t + forma base del 
verbo para formar la forma 
negativa.
• We can’t dance.
• I can’t play soccer.
• She can’t sing.
• They can’t jump.
3. Formamos las preguntas colocando can antes del sujeto. (Can + 
sujeto + forma base del verbo)
• Can we dance?
• Can I play soccer?
• Can She sing?
• Can They jump?

decir la hora:
1. It’s two o’clock. (son las dos en punto) 2:00
2. It’s half past three. (son las tres y media) 3:30
3. It’s quarter past six. (son un cuarto pasado las seis) 6:15
4. It’s quarter to ten. (son un cuarto para las diez) 9:45

Prepositions of 
Time
(preposiciones de tiempo)
• Usamos diferentes 
preposiciones para 
hablar del tiempo. 
1. Con los tiempos del día usamos at.
Ejemplos:
• School starts at eight o’clock. (la escuela empieza a las 8 en 
punto)
• The train leaves at seven thirty. (el tren se va a las siete y media)
2. Con los meses y estaciones usamos in.
Ejemplos:
• It always rains in December. (siempre llueve en diciembre)
• We play football in winter. (Nosotros jugamos fútbol en invierno)
3. Con los días de la semana usamos on.
Ejemplos:
• I go to the cinema on Saturday. (voy al cine el sábado)
• There’s a test at school on Monday. (hay una prueba en la escuela 
el lunes)
Ordinal Numbers
(números ordinales)
*Escribir en el cuaderno.
• Nos indican la posición de algo en una lista. 
1st (primero), 2nd (segundo), 3rd (tercero),etc.
• Tambien se usan para indicar fechas.
My birthday is on 27th July. (mi cumpleaños es el 
27 de julio)
Números ordinales:
• Estos son algunos números ordinales:
1st - first 5th - fifth 9th - ninth 13th - thirteenth
2nd - second 6th - sixth 10th - tenth 20th - twentieth
3rd - third 7th - seventh 11th - eleventh 30th - thirtieth
4th - fourth 8th - eighth 12th - twelfth 31st - thirty-first
