Observe as expressões tipicamente usadas nos contextos de recepção de hotel e posteriormente ao fazer 
pedido no restaurante. Por último, você precisará se recordar delas para criar um diálogo simulando uma 
conversa entre recepcionista e cliente. Are you ready? Let’s get down to business!

1 - At the hotel: fill in the dialogue with the expressions used by the hotel receptionist and the guest. Use the 
sentences in the boxes.

Receptionist: Good evening. Can I help you? 
Guest: Have you got any rooms? 
Receptionist: What kind of room would you like? Single, double or twin? 
Guest: Double please with a shower, if possible. 
Receptionist: Certainly, sir. We have a very nice room on the third floor with a lovely view of the 
mountains. How long will you be staying? 
Guest: Just two nights. How much is the room? 
Receptionist: It’s $42 per night including breakfast. 
Guest: That’s fine. Would it be possible to have an evening meal as well? 
Receptionist: Yes, sir we have a small restaurant for the clients. 
Guest: Is it possible to have dinner this evening? 
Receptionist: Certainly, sir. Here’s your key, that’s room 319. Could I have your credit card, 
please? 
Guest: Here you are. 
Receptionist: 
Thank you, sir. I’ll just call the porter to help you up with your bags. Have a nice stay. 
Guest: Thank you. 
 
The next morning at breakfast 
Waitress: Good morning. Are you ready to order? 
Guest: 
Yes, we are. Could we have scrambled eggs with country ham, toast and jam, please? 
Waitress: Certainly, Sir. Anything else? 
Guest: Hot chocolate for my wife and a coffee for me, please. 
Waitress: Black or white? 
Guest: White, please. 
A few minutes later.

Waitress: Here you are, sir. Just let me know if you need anything else. 
Guest: 
Later on.

Guest: Excuse me, Could I have some more coffee, please?
