O foco principal da Criminologia Crítica ou Nova Criminologia é direcionar sua atenção para os mecanismos e instâncias de controle social, em vez de olhar para o criminoso e investigar as causas e motivos que os impulsionam. Ela estuda a vida cotidiana e como ela é experimentada, destacando as regras e rituais das pessoas envolvidas e como seus participantes e organizações interagem, como a polícia, o Ministério Público, o judiciário, o sistema prisional, entre outros. A Criminologia Crítica propõe que, em uma sociedade capitalista, cuja ordem legal é opressiva, o crime é um problema insolúvel e visa modificar a sociedade em vez de tratar o criminoso. Portanto, a alternativa correta é "todas as anteriores".
