A Lei 11.700, de 13/06/2008, tem como conteúdo a letra "b) Acrescenta o item X ao caput do art. 4º, garantindo vaga na escola pública de educação infantil ou de ensino fundamental mais próxima de sua residência ao estudante que a ela solicitar, até o dia 24 de janeiro do ano letivo em curso." Essa lei garante a vaga em escola pública de educação infantil ou de ensino fundamental mais próxima da residência do estudante que a solicitar.
