◆ Reported Speech (Discurso Indireto) Quando o discurso direto é transformado em indireto, deve-se fazer uma série de mudanças: • nos tempos verbais Present -) Present / Past Past -) Past / Perfect Present Future -) Future / Conditional Conditional -) Conditional Perfect Imperative -) Infinitive • nos pronomes I -) he/she we -) they you -) I/we/you/he/she/they (para melhor exclarecer, vá ao final da página) my -) his/her our -) their your -) my/our/your/his/her/their (para melhor exclarecer, vá ao final da página) mine -) his/hers myself -) himself/herself us -) them ours -) theirs This -) that • nos advérbios here -) there today -) that day now -) then yesterday -) the day before last -) the ... before (the previous) tomorrow -) the next day next -) the following two days ago -) two days before/earlier last night -) the night before this place -) that place Usamos o reported speech ou discurso indireto quando queremos expressar na forma escrita a fala de outras pessoas. Frase falada: I can hear the music. Frase escrita: “I can hear the music”, said Jeanne. Reported speech (present): Jeanne says (that) she can hear the music. (note o "I" virando "she") Reported speech (past): Jeanne said (that) she could hear the music. You don’t have another choice”, he told me/he said to me. (“Você não tem outra escolha”, ele me disse/ele disse a mim.) he told me (that) I didn’t have another choice. Ele me disse que eu não tinha outra escolha he said to me (that) I didn’t have another choice. Are you tired?”, he asked (me). (“Você está cansado?”, ele me perguntou.) He asked (me) if I was tired. He said: “I live here with my kids”. (Ele disse: “Eu moro aqui com meus filhos”.) He said he lived there with his kids. She said to her brother: “I will see you tomorrow”. (Ela disse ao irmão: “Verei você amanhã”.) She told her brother she would see him the next day. Mother said to her children: “Be quiet”. (A mãe disse aos filhos: “Fiquem quietos”.) Mother told her children to be quiet. • nas orações interrogativas Paul asked me: “Where do you live?”. Paul asked me where I lived. Sara asked:“Did you sleep well?”. Sara asked if (whether) I had slept well. Exemplos para melhor entender as trocas do pronome you John said to me: "You are my friend".
