1. O uso adequado dos verbos MAKE e DO pode gerar diversas dúvidas para aprendizes da
língua inglesa, pois ambos têm como significado geral a ação de fazer alguma coisa. No
entanto, ao analisarmos mais profundamente seus sentidos, percebemos que há diversas
traduções e usos para esses verbos que devem respeitar regras e contextos. A partir disso,
explique o sentido das expressões a seguir e crie uma frase para exemplificar cada uma delas:
a) Do somebody a favor.
b) Make na effort.
c) Do well.
d) Make coffee.
Resposta Esperada:
a) Do somebody a favor = fazer um favor a alguém. Exemplo: I did you a favor last time.
b) Make na effort = fazer um esforço. Exemplo: I made an effort to finish my graduation.
c) Do well = ter sucesso. Exemplo: I did well in that course!
d) Make coffee = fazer/preparar café. Exemplo: I made coffee for my mom this morning.
2. Detective stories are types of popular literature in which a crime is introduced and investigated,
and the culprit is revealed. Usually it is also axiomatic that the clues from which a logical solution
to the problem can be reached be fairly presented to the reader at exactly the same time that the
sleuth receives them and that the sleuth deduce the solution to the puzzle from a logical
interpretation of these clues. Based on the above considerations, write about the traditional
elements of the detective story.

The detective story often it seems like the perfect crime; All the clues must be available for the
reader; All the suspects must be introduced in the beginning; Has a clumsy police; The detective
must be memorable; The criminal must be a worthy oponente; The solution usually appears logical

suspense.
