What is the diagnosis of the histopathological exam described?
The patient had a cesarean section 45 days ago. After 4 weeks, during a routine check-up, the patient presented a fistula with purulent secretion drainage and discomfort in the region. A radiographic exam showed denser areas and a magnetic resonance imaging showed dense formations suggestive of a granulomatous area caused by a foreign body. During the surgical procedure, granulomatous, friable, fibrous tissue with an irregular shape and about 10cm in diameter was removed. The histopathological exam showed the presence of chronic active inflammation, false cystic areas, neoformed vessels, plasmocytes producing immunoglobulin, T and B lymphocytes, and active macrophages. The presence of giant cells surrounding the foreign body, which appears as scattered yellowish points on the slide, was also observed. The foreign body is causing chronic abscesses filled with purulent secretion. Granuloma caused by a viral infection. Granuloma caused by a bacterial infection. Granuloma caused by a foreign body. Granuloma caused by a fungal infection.
