PRESENT CONTINUOUS 
 
The action is happening now. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
PAST ------------------------------ NOW --------------------------------FUTURE 
 
• Please, be quiet. I’m working. (= I’m working now) 
• Look at Sue! She’s wearing her new hat. (= She is wearing it now) 
• The weather is nice at the moment. It’s not raining. 
• Where are the children? They are playing in the park. 
• You can turn off the television. I’m not watching it. 
 
Affirmative form: 
 
• Chris is writing (write+ing) a letter. 
• The phone is ringing (ring + ing). 
 
Negative form: 
 
• She isn’t eating (eat + ing). 
• You’re not (You aren’t) listening (listen+ing) to me. 
 
 
 
I’m working. 
She’s wearing a hat. 
They’re playing football. 
I’m not watching television. 
Pronoun + verb TO BE + Principal verb + ING +…. 
Pronoun + verb TO BE + NOT + Principal verb + ING 
Come → coming (tiro o “e” e acrescento ing depois da consoante) 
Run → Running 
Lie → lying (quando tenho ie, trocarei por y + ing) 
Write → writing 
Sit → sitting 
Dance → dancing 
Swim → swimming (CVC → repetir a última consoante antes do ing)
